Encounter
Look for fireflies at night or in shade. Their glowing abdomen is visible with Vibrant Visuals; it does not light nearby blocks.
Catch & release
Use an empty glass bottle on a living firefly to obtain a Bottle of Fireflies. Use it against a block face with air beside it to release the firefly and recover the glass bottle. Its name and remaining health are preserved. Released fireflies do not ordinarily despawn.
